Financially Possible

Building Connections for Bigger Changes

I don’t want to be just some random guy on the Internet. I want my readers to know who I am. I want to build personal connections with my readers.

So Who Is Trip at Financially Possible?

Building Connections

I’m a proud father who took his daughter trick-or-treating. My wife and I dressed her as an astronaut for the second year in a row. I’m married to a beautiful woman with a very generous heart. She encourages other women to pursue financial confidence and financial freedom through her writing at Ms. Financial Literacy. I work in technology. I don’t trust technology. Cyber security greatly concerns me. I’m excited about technological innovations that promise positive social changes. As our society moves toward automation, I hope we, as a human race, will always remember how to take care of ourselves and those we love.

I was the fat kid the coach teased when I couldn’t run a mile [As a wealth creator coach, I find the best in my clients and work with their strengths.]. I’ve been an avid runner for 9 years now. I especially enjoy running with others. While I run for fitness, I have participated in many races, including one marathon and four half-marathons. I’ve also set many personal records running 10K races. About 10 years ago, I weighed 275 pounds. I lost 125 pounds within 13 months. Since then, I’ve maintained my weight within my desired range which is between 155 and 165 pounds.

I love strategy games (board games and video games). I prefer board games for the in-person social interactions. My favorite part of being an investor is the opportunity to learn and apply strategic elements to my investment choices. I’m especially interested in the psychological and behavioral aspects of investing. I’m currently researching universities that offer a master’s degrees in behavioral economics/finance.

Thus far this year I watched very little sports. When I do watch sports, I enjoy analyzing the statistics. Statistics and probabilities are my favorite math subjects. I’ve been reading personal finance and wealth creation books for fun lately. Personal finance, similar to physics, has unchanging laws that existed since the earliest creation of money.

I’m frugal (to an extreme level, according to my wife) and enjoy pursuing financial independence. My family and friends like to tease me about how frugal I am, and I like every moment of that. I don’t like shopping. Grocery shopping is the only exception. I’m not normal; I know it; I don’t care.

I enjoy traveling with my family. Experiencing and immersing in other cultures has really been both eye- and mind-opening. Once we leave the workforce, my wife and I will be living in several countries over extensive periods of time. We want to share this amazing experience together with our daughter before she enters middle school.

Forming a Squad of Influencers and Activists

I’m an optimist. About eighty percent of my thoughts are optimistic in nature. Daily events happening around the world provides many opportunities for one to become cynical. I monitor my thoughts and dismiss those that aren’t healthy. I believe in people’s capacity to change. I know from experience that change is not easy. In order for change to happen, one has to see the value in the change. Then, the person has to set good goals in order to make the change happen. This is how I lost weight. It’s a strong formula I continue to follow as I live my life. I believe in society’s ability to change. Since I was a young adult, I have been longing for certain societal changes to happen. I’m actively networking hoping to find others who are interested in making positive changes as well. I understand that making changes at the societal level requires the combined and prolonged effort of many. Recently, I learned that Mr. Money Mustache is a proponent for change. I hope to find many others who share similar values and ideals.

I work with others to improve their financial situations and get them closer to achieving their financial goals. I’ve heard stories of families who were undergoing extreme financial stress. The stress was so bad that one or both parents were contemplating suicide. One of my biggest goals is working with those who can benefit from my coaching the most.

What would you like to let me to know about you?

What else would you like to know about me?

If you are a bold individual interested in joining my squad, let’s connect! Let me know how we can get in touch.

Help spread the message. We all can benefit from the social changes and financial knowledge written about on FinanciallyPossible!

I’d love to hear more about your plans for living abroad and any resources you’ve found on that topic!

      Hi Liberte,

Our current thinking would be to live in countries where our daughter could become fluent in Chinese (Cantonese), Spanish, and German in that order. We’d hope to gain a level close to fluency with the language ourselves as well. We estimate this would require living in each country for about 2 years in each country while our daughter is in her elementary school years.

Another blogger (The Frugal Vagabond) has a great resource for estimating costs on international living. It’s fun to play around with, but I do recommend you dig into the details at how the tool arrives at its numbers:
